peeping Tom: a person who is nosy or always "looking" into other people's lives

to use something as a vehicle for something: to use (something) as a way to show, express, display or do something else

the cream rises to the top: the best is always noticed sooner or later (something good can't go unnoticed for a long time)

to smell a rat: to get the sense or feeling that someone is doing something wrong, or is a bad person
